A stand out among North American sports car drivers, Guy Cosmo boasts extensive experience in both Prototype & GT racing. Cosmo's career began in karting at the age of 11. A rising star in North American open-wheel racing, Cosmo earned championships in karting, Formula Ford, Formula 2000 and Star Mazda before a limited season in the Toyota Atlantic Championship and successful test outings in Indy Lights.
Cosmo transitioned to sports cars in 2003 where he quickly established himself, racing in Grand-Am's Daytona Prototype category as well as the American Le Mans Series' LMP2 category. Cosmo won the 2005 ALMS Rookie of the Year award in LMP2 and has since maintained a reputation as a first-class professional and proven front-runner in both the Prototype and GT ranks. Cosmo has 54 starts in the American Le Mans Series including 4 wins, 16 top-3 finishes, 3 pole positions and has set the fastest race lap 6 times, as well as over 30 starts in Grand-Am Daytona Prototypes. During that time Guy raced for notable teams such as Spirit of Daytona Racing, Finlay Motorsports, Brumos Racing, Doran Racing, Orbit Racing, Tequila Patrón ESM, Level 5 Motorsports and Whelen Engineering, driving GT2, GTLM, GTE & LMP2 machinery.
In 2016 Guy competed in the inaugural Road to Le Mans event, establishing the lap record for LMP3 cars at the famed Circuit de la Sarthe in Le Mans, France, driving an Onroak Automotive Ligier JS P3 for United Autosports.
While leading the driving lineups for several Pro-Am GT3 & GT4 customer teams in North America from 2017 on, Guy also competed internationally, winning the 2017-18 Asian Le Mans Series Championship in LMP3, driving for Jackie Chan DC Racing x Jota Sport. Together they earned a prestigious entry to the 2018 24 Heures du Mans. Guy continued in the Asian Le Mans Series in 2018-19, taking 2nd place in the LMP2-Am Championship with United Autosports, driving a Ligier JS P2, followed by a limited season in the 2019-20 Asian Le Mans Series season with Rick Ware Racing / Eurointernational, claiming 3rd in the LMP2-Am championship. In every attempt, Guy earned pole positions and race wins in each season.
Guy competed in the 2020 Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring, claiming 3rd in the LMP2 category, and helped launch a new team in the IMSA WeatherTech Sportscar Championship that he also drove for in 2021, with Gilbert / Korthoff Motorsports in the GTD Category with Mercedes-AMG, while also competing in SRO GT4 America for RENNtech Motorsports.
In recent years Guy has contested partial seasons in Pro-Am categories with his coaching clients in various series such as SRO GT4 America, Lamborghini Super Trofeo, Fanatec GT World Challenge America, Intercontinental GT Challenge as well as Historic Sports Car Racing organizations such as HSR and SVRA. His coaching exploits keep him behind the wheel of a variety of exciting machines including IMSA DPi’s, various Daytona Prototypes & LMP machinery and GT cars as well.
Guy is currently racing in the HSR Prototype Challenge Presented by IMSA (LMP3) and the HSR Classic events, reviving the 2022 IMSA WeatherTech Sportscar Championship-Winning Meyer Shank Racing Acura ARX-05 DPi.
