Ready to race with Porsche V8-Coyote
WATKINS GLEN, NY (June 5, 2009) --Guy Cosmo will start the AMA-liveried No. 09 Porsche V8-Coyote from the sixth row for Spirit of Daytona Racing in Saturday’s Sahlen’s 6 Hours of the Glen after posting a fast lap time of 1:43.143-seconds in qualifying at Watkins Glen International on Friday.
Saturday’s 6-hour enduro will see the AMA machine co-driven by Cosmo as well as Scott Russell and Antonio Garcia as the Rolex Sports Car Series makes its first visit of the season to the fabled upstate New York track.
Cosmo made the most of every lap during the 15-minute session, setting a quick time and then improving lap after lap to set his quickest time just before the checkered flag fell to close out the session.
“It took some time for the fronts to come in so we had a lot of push initially,” said Cosmo, who considers Watkins Glen to be his home track. “But the car got better as the session went on so I just tried to make the most of it. We were hoping to be a little bit closer to the front at the start, but this is a long race and we’re just going to chip away at it tomorrow for six hours and see where we end up. We’ve seen everything at this race with rain and heat and everything in between, so we’re just going to look for a clean start and then we’ll get to work tomorrow.”
SPEED Will carry live coverage of the Sahlen’s 6 Hours of the Glen starting at 2:00 PM ET.
